OK... so it's not a huuuuuuge deal, but I'm pretty stoked... As I mentioned a while back in another journal entry, I had entered a local photo contest. This was the photograph that I chose to enter in the event that used "The Way We Worked" as a theme...
Today I received a phone call from a representative of the Public Library, which hosted the contest... and was informed that my photograph had been awarded 3rd place... (out of roughly 80 entries) and that I could expect my check in the mail come the middle of February!
Yeah, it's not that big a deal... but... this was the first photo contest that I've ever entered... and though I didn't "take the gold", to finish even "in the money" is pretty damned exciting to me! It proves to me that maybe I do have some talent... an eye... and that my work is appreciated by more than just railroad-buffs and my own friends!
Now I just hope I can build on this success... might have to pick a shot or two for the county fair this summer!
